Freedom is caring

It's been said that a key to understanding the culture warfare taking place these days is the different definitions of the word "freedom."

One side thinks freedom means the right to do whatever you please or whatever you can get away with. It's every person for themself.

The other side things freedom means we are all in this together. Everybody has the same rights and nobody is above the law.

It all hinges on responsibility. Are we responsible for each other, or is that up to the marketplace or anybody but us?

The Bible poses the question, "Am I my brother's keeper?" Liberals and conservatives have different answers.

But if we don't care about other people, what kind of society are we creating? The choice is up to us.
