CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) is one of the major news networks in the United States.
From 2000 to 2024 it was owned by National Amusements - the company run by Sumner Redstone and his daughter Shari Redstone. It alternated between operating independently and being merged with Viacom. In 2022 the company was rebranded as Paramount Global.
In 2025, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved Paramount Global being acquired by Skydance - an entertainment production company owned by David Ellison.
In the FCC press release, chairperson Brendan Carr justified the merger.
"Americans no longer trust the legacy national news media to report fully, accurately, and fairly. It is time for a change," Carr wrote.

Nonprofit organization that creates media on political and economic issues with a conservative viewpoint.
One PragerU video, for example, argues a common Republican and Libertarian Party platform that increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans will harm the economy.
In a PragerU video about Columbus Day, an animated Columbus argues that "slavery is as old as time" and that "being taken as a slave is better than being killed."
Though the name is short for Prager University, the organization is not an accredited school. It offers no classes.
As of late 2025, 10 states have approved PragerU material for their public schools.
