MAR-A-LAGO and No TRUMP bills

There were two bills in Congress that would have address these issues - at least in part. Both died when the previous session of Congress ended.

One is the No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act (No TRUMP) Act. This bill would have prohibited the president from receiving government money used to rent rooms at any hotel owned by sitting presidents and their families.

A second bill, related indirectly, is the Make Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act (MAR-A-LAGO) Act. It would have required presidents to provide visitor logs from the White Hose and other places they routinely perform official U.S. business.
